Proof of Quality in Tokyo Olympics Torch Case & Imperial Family Travel Chest
The trust in the outstanding technical skills of the skilled craftsmen who make our products has been recognized by the world at historic milestones.
The case created to carry the torch for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which marked the beginning of a high-growth period, and the travel chest for the Crown Prince's (at the time) overseas trip in 1984 are examples of this. In the past, when travelling by sea was the norm, travel chests were used to carry clothes with care and were used as dressers on board the ship. The reliable skills of the craftsmen who made them have been passed down and remain today a part of the unquestionable quality of GOLD SANDS items.
A Resplendent Workshop a Joy to the Five Senses
Items produced by GOLD SANDS are created in soaked in the sacred atmosphere in our workshop, enveloped in a nostalgic and unique fragrance, using the delicate sensibilities unique to Japanese craftsmanship and traditional techniques that have been handed down through the generations.
In the manufacturing process at GOLD SANDS, we value the technical processes (hand sewing, edge polishing, etc.) that many brands have replaced with mechanization, and we continue to pass on these traditional techniques.
We will continue to protect and refine the spirit of our craftsmen without being swept away by the changes of modern times. We believe that thanks to this GOLD SANDS items are made with unique techniques and have a distinctive 'GOLD SANDS Spirit' that sets us apart from mass-produced brands that rely on machine manufacturing.

Traditional Skills: Sewing by Hand
When sewing by hand, the stitches will not be neat if the same force and rhythm are not used. Because of this immense skill is required to sew neatly and quickly.
GOLD SANDS items are carefully sewn one by one by Japan's most skilled craftsmen, who take the time and effort to finish them with unparallel care.

Traditional Skills: Edge Burnishing
The process of finishing the cut surface of the leather with dye and wax many times is called edge burnishing. Since it is difficult to burnish neatly without a delicate touch, it is done by hand, piece by piece, and with great effort.
